The Forest Hill Football club is located in South Eastern Melbourne, we are affiliated with the Eastern Football Netball League..
We field teams from Auskick through to Senior Age group Men and Women in AFL and Netball.
The club was founded in 1967 as under aged club that developed young boys in footballers. By 1970 there was enough support for the fielding of a senior side in the Eastern Football League. The club spent its first seven years down the bottom of the 3rd Division ladder.
In 1978 the club played finals for the first time. With yearly improvements and finals until the ultimate breakthrough in 1984 when the club won its first senior premiership defeating The Basin by 32 points.
The club has played the last few years in Division 4 making finals on numerous occasions and runners up in a number of grand finals. Matt Carnelley was an overnight sensation when he kicked 22 goals against Nunawading. Later in the year he kicked 24 goals against the same opposition to set a new league record.
Justin has now been coaching for thirteen years, which includes both seniors and juniors. Justin began coaching when he was 18 years of age and found a passion for it very quickly.
Justin has been associated with Forest Hill for the last ten years and after a break came back to the club in 2010 and began his Senior Coaching apprenticeship in 2014. Justin believes that the club has a vibrant culture which is the reason that he is still around at the Zebras.
According to Justin the sky is the limit in Season 2020. The club will get everything that it deserves this year, no success comes without hard work.
Justin’s assistant coaches this year will be Manny DeBono, Kevin Bentley and
Development Squad Coach Justin Pilcher.
Justin's Manta is “Success isn’t something that is just handed out, you have to commit, sacrifice and have the desired work ethic to achieve it “.
We welcome Justin Pilcher back to the Zebras in 2020, Justin was assistant coach at senior level with Mt Evelyn Div 1 in the Yarra Valley back in 2016.
This season will be his first time back at Forest Hill since 2015. Prior to this Justin had been at Forest hill for 14 years, was captain of the under 18’s in 2004, and co captain of the seniors several times in his 197 games for Forest Hill. This season Justin is hoping to make sure that the majority of reserves players can push for senior selection at some stage of the season. Justin will implement the club game plan into the reserves. This will create one big united group. At this stage Justin is still looking for someone to assist him so please contact the club if you are interested.
Justin’s Mantra this year is “For every player to enjoy the season as much as possible with their mates while upholding the club values.
